Indie-dance / synth-pop • 125 BPM • key of G
I’ve always loved the moment when a choice stops being theoretical and turns into motion. The Ocean I’ve Chosen is that moment, the point where you trust your own map, even when the routes look messy.
“it never goes as expected
but all the paths are connected”
listen
the spark
This started as a late-night loop: a warm polysynth holding the horizon while a simple bass line kept walking forward. The hook arrived fast, “do i get to / should i let you / into the ocean again,” and everything else served that feeling of return and release.
production notes
- Tempo/Key: 125 BPM • G major
- Vibe: indie-dance / synth-pop (think night drive → coastline)
- Palette: shimmering polys, tight side-chained pads, arpy highlights, driving but gentle low-end
- Mix approach: wide stereo on the pads, centered vocal, restrained master glue for punch without crunch
- DAW: Logic Pro
If you want the nerdy stuff (chains, patch names, and bus routing), say the word—I’ll post a deep dive.
the lyric thread
“i’m in the moment i’ve chosen
hope time with you is frozen
i’ve only wanted you to see my way”
It’s about choosing your own vision without shutting out connection, the current pulls you forward, but you can still invite someone to swim.
artwork + visuals
For this single I’m using a text-free cover: dusk horizon, teal-to-navy sea, subtle glowing currents, paths you can feel more than see.
Alt text (for accessibility): “Soft dusk horizon over dark teal water; faint luminous currents hint at connected paths. No text.”
