The Curve Is the Point
There’s a moment in every story, every relationship, every year! every life, when the road doesn’t break, it bends. The line you thought you were following veers off, smooth sudden like an intrusive thought.
That’s what Curve is.
Not collapse, explosion, some overdramatic undoing. Just, eff…. the subtle derailment of expectation. A shift. A curve.
We tend to worship straight lines.
Progress. Logic. “Moving forward.” But life rarely moves forward cleanly. And in a way, I feel sorry for and admire those who make that happen) But for me at least, in my experience, Life loops. It arcs. It spirals when we need it to climb. And in those moments, when you’re not sure what direction you’re headed, only that you’re still in motion, you discover something fragile and important, you are still becoming. How was THAT for a run-on. wow
The track began by complete fucking -but not- accident, (if you know…) on a night when the silence was a little too loud/just right? I wasn’t trying to write anything. I was just following a feeling, a direction. And somewhere between the I? (hah, now that’s a question) found that area i needed to explore, dig into, and perhaps disturb a few unwanted feelings and memories that only music can exorcise,
oh yes it;s also, the ache of not knowing who you are, or if you know anything or just might simply be crazy….but still choosing to make ‘beautiful pain’ (thank you snoop).
Sonically, Curve is a nod to the artists who raised me: Depeche Mode, New Order, Ultravox, Erasure. The original architects of emotional movement music. Their sounds were blueprints for dancing through uncertainty, for holding your breath in a crowded room and calling it rhythm.
And now here we are again.
This track isn’t a solution. It doesn’t resolve. It’s not meant to. It’s a pulse. A question mark in 4/4 time. A soft, glowing shape in the fog. It’s for you. For us.
If it finds you in a moment when things are shifting, I hope it keeps you company.
If you’re in the curve, be patient. That is the story.
We don’t break here.
We bend. Right?
Thank you and you’ll -probably- like Call Your Name and Out of Place
Lyrics
can i be here in the
^summer rain
let tomorow’s worries and yesterday’s shame
dissipate and float into the sky
cause,
this moment with you is amazing
i’ll need to relearn everything
well
can i leave behind the fear and pain
we’ll hold each other as we revisit love again
i dance with your slhouette in the fading light
my only wish is that i had more
time
i can’t believe that life is changing
what is this? another curve?
what else can i do to save me?
i guess im glad there’s more to learn
i’ll need to relearn everything
now i know my life is always changing
can i keep up with the twists and turns
why is having faith in you never easy?
but stay with me so i can learn
i can’t do it alone
i can’t do it in silence
who gave us 4/4 ryhthm
you know
im not an island
i’ll need to relearn everything
i can’t believe that life is changing
what is this
another curve
what else can i do to save me
i guess im glad there’s more to learn
i’ll need to relearn everything
now i know my life is always changing
can i keep up with the twists and turns
why is having faith in you never easy
but stay with me so i can learn
ill be ^ happy
in the ^summer rain
i think i’ll give up worriy
or feeling shame
i think i’ll dance until the morning light
until i ever have to say
goodbye.
