Sunrise : Featuring a warm collision of analog synths and four-on-the-floor dance beats, Sunset Sky’s ‘Sunrise’ overflows with earnestness and hope. From the thumping kick drum to the writhing bass to the iconic synths and contemplative vocals, this track straddles a sweet spot between synthpop and indie dance while delivering impact and emotion from start to finish.
This was fun from start to… almost finish. First there was the hook. Unstoppable and the song was hopeful and fun. Then came the usual production woes. It wasn’t terrible but I’m still debating some decisions, such as another rhythm synth and guitar. I hope you see for yourself. It is about small town dreams, dealing with despair and depression but still finding the sunrise. I loved making this song. I hope you love listening to it.
The main takeaway is the old, “it’s always darkest before dawn.” I don’t know if it’s true, but if you hang on long enough, maybe there will be an unbelievable sunrise you never imagined. Stay for it.
With an uplifting chorus and warm atmosphere, ‘Let It Rain’ is a track full of hope even when love might fail. From Sunset Sky’s clean production to p.m.warner’s front and center vocals, this song is like the embrace of cozy covers—near a crackling fire with the starry night sky above. You will want to experience it more than once.
Let It Rain is a song that came together with a simple premise. Accepting things as they are and not allowing negative experiences to pull us down. It is a song meant to acknowledge pain but also offer hope. You can imagine a time in your life when things fell apart. At first devastating, with time comes the acceptance that it happened. There’s no changing it, going back in time is still not feasible so, maybe, just let it rain. All the feelings, the despair everything and let it have a cleansing effect on your psyche.
Emotions are hard to deal with. You and I know that. Sometimes they can become overwhelming. That’s when music becomes so necessary to sort through feelings. My hope is to capture this in a bottle and share in not only the sorrow, but the hope that can come out of hard situations.
I hope you enjoy this song. I made it for you.
Let It Rain — Lyrics
doesn’t matter if i’m wrong or right sometimes its just not worth the fight go on your own way and I’ll go mine
never worth any time that you spend renting space inside your head time for you to go no one needs this pain again
you can leave it all outside let it rain where it might all my life its time to let it fall tonight
let it rain
wrestled with this all my life taking things that just weren’t mine don’t know whats inside just want to be purified
everyone feels pain easy to forget again life you can’t avoid let it all wash away
you can leave it all outside let it rain where it might all my life its time to let it fall tonight
let it rain
no its not a simple plan but i think we understand only one thing we can do experience it anew
let it rain
it’s time to leave it all outside let the rain fall where it might avoided all my life time to let it fall tonight
let it rain
so on that note let’s go and leave what we already know it’s time to say goodbye to previous known lives
We’ve all had something or someone that even through ups and downs, you always stuck with. You couldn’t quit. Passion like that can’t just shut down – even if sometimes you wish it would. If you have something or someone like that in your life, this song is for you.
If you haven’t found it yet, you will. Believe me.
Call it a synth pop single, indie dance, electronic, whatever you call it, it’s catchy – and short. This literally appeared in a dream and was quickly keyed out at some godforsaken time in the morning. It practically wrote itself
And it’s true – the lyrics are about as clear as it gets. It’s incredible to actually find someone you can tell your secrets to. Especially when they have some of the same battle scars. I hope you have found someone like that in your life.
Secrets – a synth pop single – Lyrics
Secrets
all i see is what’s here before me and i’ll do my best – to understand please know you can share your secrets god knows it’s not an easy world
this life can often brand us and sometimes we’ll see the scars i don’t believe it needs to define you they disappear when you’re in my arms
Do you think, do you think i want to get together and do you think do you think that I want you so do you think do you think I’ll hold your sunshine do you think do you think… well it’s all true
do you know do you know we have both fought battles and do you know do you know I’ll be right here so do you see do you see I’d die now for you will you shaare will you share your secrets with me
oh you’ve seen have you seen the life that we’ve had and do you know do you know that i’ve seen too much so do you think do you think that I’m naive and do you know do you know you’re what i need
Do you think do you think i want to get together and do you think do you think that I want you so do you think do you think i’ll hold your sunshine and do you think do you think… well it’s all true
Put It Down is a remix of a synthpop single released a few years ago.
Why revisit?
Recently I was asked at a gathering if I had any songs on YouTube during a visit to Florida. At first I lied and said no. Then, rethinking a couple minutes later I blurted out, “Actually, that was a lie, I do.” There was a large flat screen TV wall-mounted in the living room, blaring out the latest dance songs. The remote holder asked. “Where are they?” The first result in search was Put It Down. I cringed and said, that will work, just wanting to get it over with. I have a hard time listening to songs – especially when I start hearing all the technical issues.
The video started and the room went quiet. I tried to start a conversation – but people were looking at the video..
Silence. Then:
“That’s… really cool. Did you do that?
Yes
Who’s singing?
Me
Who wrote that… did the instruments?
I did
Wow. It’s good.”
Someone said, “You need to get on Tik Tok.”
And needless to say, it gave me the confidence to revisit it. Maybe there was something there.
So listen to Put It Down – a synthpop single – for yourself!
So it turned out revisiting the song brought up a lot of memories. Because Put It Down deals with a period where hope was in really short supply. And within a synthpop framework, describing attempts to try and ignore or bury the situation, along with thoughts, feelings, etc… that were killing me. Many others have been through this and will know exactly what this song is about. Because if you’ve been there, well, you’ve been there. At some point we have to put it down, either literally or figuratively. Then hopefully recover and move on
So I feel for those who are suffering today – Put It Down is dedicated to you. I hope you find something in this song you recognize. And know that others have been through and/or are dealing right now, with the pain you are feeling.
