“RoundandrounD” by Sunset Sky dives into the ups and downs of life, touching on missed chances and the hope for a fresh start. It’s about wanting to be there, even when things didn’t go as planned, and the feeling that maybe, just maybe, there’s still time for one more chance.
So… this is honestly one of the best tracks I’ve created. It came from a simple idea and at one iteration, I was about to delete everything. But, I stuck with it. And the idea of that second chance getting thrown out there…. not so much a statement, but hanging out there, really becomes a question.
I made this for folks to enjoy. take what you want from it. I hope it was fun for you. And THANK YOU!
RoundandrounD Lyrics
know it seems like i wasn’t there
i know it seems like i didn’t care
only know what they all said
i only know this doesn’t feel like the end
its not the end of the story
its not the end of the dance
i wanted to be there for you
there’s always a second chance
round and round
if you know me there’s always hope implied
silly i know, it doesn’t match inside
like watching you with someone else
nothing more
nothing less
its not the end of the story
its not the end of the dance
i wanted to be there for you
isn’t there a second chance
round and round
About RoundandrounD
In “RoundandrounD,” Sunset Sky takes listeners on an emotional loop, exploring the twists and turns of life that didn’t quite work out but still holds hope. With plainspoken lyrics, the song connects instantly – it’s honest, vulnerable, and relatable. It doesn’t sugarcoat the feeling of watching someone move on, or deal with issues you don’t understand, much like watching them with a stranger, or the regret of not being there when it mattered. But at its core, “RoundandrounD” is about the chance for renewal.
The lyrics say it all: “It’s not the end of the story, it’s not the end of the dance.” There’s a sense of unfinished business, of something still left to give. The simple refrain of “round and round” echoes how relationships can circle back in unexpected ways, keeping listeners hanging on for just one more spin. Sunset Sky taps into that universal feeling of wanting a do-over – for things to work out better, for love to get a second chance.
Musically, the track is as moody and danceable as you’d expect from a band that brands itself with the unique genre “wheatfield dance.” There’s a subtle beat that builds anticipation, the kind you feel in your chest, pulling you into each verse as the story unfolds. It’s the perfect song for late-night drives, quiet moments of reflection, or, fittingly, a last dance.
“RoundandrounD” is one of those songs that captures what it’s like to be human – caught between past mistakes and future possibilities, holding onto hope even when it seems a little silly. Give it a listen, and maybe you’ll find a little bit of your own story in the lyrics.
Miss You Like Yesterday is an emotionally charged dance pop anthem capturing the bittersweet essence of letting go. The song’s catchy beats and heartfelt vocals evoke a sense of longing, showcasing the struggle of moving on while the past fades away. It dropped on Spotify July 14, 2023.
TBH – this one took a while. Not for any one thing except I got picky. Like really picky. I realized repeatedly how many mistakes I made – and at one point to get this out the door, even let some go. Next time, right?
Good mixing is no joke and my hat’s off to the folks who make it an art form. I’m listening to everything these days and although the song may be good or not so great, what I’m really asking myself is, “How in the hell did they do that?” There are so many talented mixers out there and it’s made me listen to music closer than ever before. Less is more as many pros will tell you. It is really hard to work with less, but that’s the point. I think some of the best producers out there take a minimalist approach. Let the song shine and make the effects not even noticeable. Again, hard.
Anyway – this is a heartfelt song. On the emotional front it was a therapeutic, even cathartic, exercise as a last night on earth is imagined, memories are examined, and how strange it is that all of it just vanishes in the end. Like Roy Batty observed: “All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.”
I hope you enjoy.
For a deeper dive:
Introduction:
In the realm of dance pop, where pulsating beats and infectious melodies reign supreme, there occasionally emerges a song that transcends the genre’s typical themes and strikes a deeply emotional chord. “Miss You Like Yesterday,” a captivating new dance pop single, is one such song. With its heartfelt lyrics and irresistible rhythm, this track takes listeners on a journey through the bittersweet realms of love, longing, and the inevitable passage of time.
Verse 1: A Perfect View of Love
“Taking our places with a perfect view, flickering lights play across the room, a dying sky kisses your face in time.” The opening verse paints a vivid picture of a couple’s intimate moment, where the world fades away, and their love takes center stage. The tender imagery evokes a sense of both vulnerability and immense joy, setting the stage for the emotional rollercoaster that follows.
Chorus: The Unforeseen End
“But how was I supposed to know, how was I supposed to see? And now I’m supposed to just let go, while watching the end of days.” The chorus captures the confusion and heartache that arise when love unexpectedly reaches its final chapter. The lyrics encapsulate the inner turmoil while grappling with the painful realization that the once-unbreakable bond is slipping away.
Verse 2: Time’s Precious Goodbye
“Drifting clouds mingle with the stars tonight, time is more precious than I realized. Are we ever ready to say goodbye?” As the song progresses, the second verse delves into the profound realization that time is fleeting, adding to the emotional weight of the narrative. It poses thought-provoking questions about the nature of farewells and whether we can ever truly prepare ourselves for the inevitable separation.
Chorus: Haunting Memories and Lingering Ghosts
“And these haunting memories are holding the ghosts at bay. Didn’t want to see it end, I’ll miss you like yesterday.” This chorus encapsulates the power of memories to keep the presence of a lost love alive. The lyrics convey the struggle to let go of the past while acknowledging the enduring impact of a cherished connection.
Bridge: Fading Memories
“As the final pages turn and our memories fade away, so hard to understand how every moment gets erased. I’ll miss you like yesterday.” The bridge delves into the painful reality of fading memories. It evokes a sense of longing and confusion while grappling with the transience of the past, desperately clinging to remnants of what once was.
Chorus: The Unresolved Pain
“How the hell do I let go? Does the pain just wash away? So this is how it’s gonna end now, while watching the end of days. I guess I’ll never really know, did we matter anyway? But never want to let you go, I’ll miss you like yesterday.” The final chorus encapsulates the lingering pain and unanswered questions that accompany the end of a significant relationship. It captures the paradoxical desire to move on while simultaneously holding onto the memories that shaped one’s identity.
Outro: A Heartfelt Goodbye
“I never wanted this to end, I’ll miss you like yesterday. Miss you like yesterday.” The outro serves as a poignant farewell, expressing deep longing and the difficulty of bidding farewell to someone who left an indelible mark on their heart. Or to the love of life.
Conclusion:
“Miss You Like Yesterday” transcends the boundaries of dance pop, immersing listeners in a narrative of love, loss, and the enduring power of memories. With its poignant lyrics and infectious melodies, this song captivates the emotions, reminding us of the transient nature of relationships and the lasting impact they can leave on our lives. Whether you’re a fan of dance pop or simply crave a powerful musical experience, “Miss You Like Yesterday” is a track that will resonate deeply within your heart.
Don’t Stop listening! Seriously this is a strong indie dance track. And if you aren’t going to dance then I will. See you on the floor! Released May 19, 2023 on Spotify
Don’t Stop is an indie dance track that started out a lot slower than the final version. Tempo can be a funny thing. It seemed to really work at 122bpm but then coming back to it, I couldn’t figure out some dragging pieces. So upped it a little and then… (this was a good lesson) there is a real difference between playback and final mastered project. So I sped it up — more than I felt comfortable with — but voila! the recorded project felt exactly how it was supposed to. Side chained the eighth notes on bass and it grooved beautifully. I hope you enjoy.
This is a song for the universe and the muses out there. Without you, the world would have substantially less color. THANK YOU.
This is the most technically accomplished track yet. The EQ and side chain coordination is getting better. The kick works with the bass and there is a definite pump effect that was needed to drive the song. It took while to get right, but all the parts work well with each other, and… it’s a good song!
I also like how it sneaks up on you with its build, much like an ocean current.Listen for yourself and enjoy.
The Bet came together quick, with minimal production. For the producers out there, you will hear sidechain compression being used for the first time to distinguish the plucks, bass and kick. Overall, there didn’t need to be much added to it. With less going on, the simplicity feels cleaner than some other productions.
Cold Outside: You’ll like this one! If you don’t, you are a heartless slug. jk I do hope you like it. I enjoyed creating it and it represents the continued shift away from synth-only sounds to using more organic guitar and bass. Do not fear synth pop fans – there is still plenty of synth work and drum machines to keep you in the groove. This new direction enhances the sound and makes it more powerful.
The verse and chorus are going to stick with you. That was the intention. My hope is you hear not only the melody but also the lyrics which reach out to the need for connection in an increasingly lonely world. When that happens, though, it can be beautiful. Right?
There’s not much to say about this one. The track came about with a little vocal experimentation and by setting one track off by two beats. It’s a tight fast melodic dance song with plenty of moving parts to keep your ear engaged. Enjoy. And Dance!
