hi. by Sunset Sky

This one felt like polishing a turd for a long time. And maybe it still is, but I ended up liking the results, but again, it took a looooong time.

Reverb is my enemy sometimes. It can add a nice ethereal layer to your tracks, or it can turn them into complete mud, like my early experiments trying to paint with oil. BTW, the cover is a section of a painting of mine – acrylic on paper, part of my broken/breaking series.

About hi.

Introducing “hi.” a new dance pop track that delves into the complexities of past relationships and the enduring power of memories. With its beat and standout lyrics, “hi.” invites listeners on a journey through nostalgia and reflection.

The song begins with a simple greeting, “hi, what’s your name? You look like someone that I know, memories flood again.” As the rhythm builds, we’re drawn into a conversation between two people who share a history, grappling with emotions that refuse to fade.

Remember Me?

“Hi, remember me? I thought I had buried our past, but emotions run deep,” the lyrics confess, echoing the experience of confronting unresolved feelings. Amidst the catchy melody, questions linger: Do moments of our past still remain? Is there anything that stays unchanged?

Before the chorus sweeps in, the refrain in the second verse “Hi, how are you?” serves as a poignant reminder of the passage of time. Yet, even as one voice admits, “I’m just okay,” there’s an underlying acceptance and resilience, a refusal to dwell in regret.

Memories Resurface

Throughout the song, memories resurface, vividly depicted in lines like “I remember calling out your name, choking it down, and it was all in vain.” The honesty in the lyrics captures the essence of reminiscence, acknowledging the pain of letting go while yearning for a chance to relive the past.

In the bridge, the melody soars as the singer grapples with the reality of closure, recognizing that some doors once opened can never fully close. Yet, amidst the uncertainty, there’s a sense of empowerment, a declaration that the past may linger, but it will never define the future.

So, What is It All About?

With its irresistible blend of pulsating beats and heartfelt lyrics, “hi.” is more than just a dance floor anthem; it’s a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring power of connection. So, let the music sweep you away as you embrace the past, the present, and the promise of what lies ahead.

Lyrics for hi.

hi

what’s your name

u look like someone that i know memories flood again

hi

remember me

i thought i had buried our past but emotions run deep

do moments of our past still remain

is there anything that stays unchanged

hi

how are you

you’re letting me know that you’re well and that you’re on the move

hi

i’m just ok

honestly dont regret falling in love anyway

(i remeber calling out your name

choking it down and it was all in vain

its hard to swallow memories remain

i only know that the past will never change)

all that time with you was really so insane

i only wish we could live it all again

it seems so hard when i remember that it’s over

do moments of our past still remain

is there anything that stays unchanged

i remember calling out your name

echoes bouncing off the ceiling once again

choke it down and try to swallow in vain

but i assure you that the past will never change

found myself at night calling out your name

not a dream and i know it sounds insane

when i wake up and couldn’t remember it’s over

i’m aware that we’ve opened up a door

we’ll never know if there was anything or more

only one way to ensure that its really over

i really don’t know now just how i should feel

when you say we’re out of time and it’s no longer real

but im assuring you the past is never over
